New Year

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Now it is on to the New Year.

I have had some clients that have come to me in the past weeks wanting a "new" look.
Most people get stuck with their makeup application.
One reason is, they have done the same thing for years and it works for them, it is fast and easy.  I challenge you this year to try something new.
New colors on your eye lids, different eyeliners, or a change in lipstick.
I hear time and time again that people are afraid to change, all I have to say is.......it's makeup not a tattoo!
It washes off.

I hope you all remember the bad makeup of the 80's.
If you are still sporting this look,
you really need to come out of your comfort zone and change it up!

No one want to look like this.

Video

I have had some people ask me to do videos of makeup application.  It makes me very nervous to do this.  It goes through my mind.....how many would watch, my voice might be irritating to listen to, ect...
Do you think it is a good idea?

Love False Eyelashes!

How to Choose False Eyelashes
Posted by MichellePhan.com

We're excited to bring you another great article from BellaSugar, a fantastic source for beauty news, how-to's, celebrity beauty trends, and giveaways galore. Today, BellaSugar is sharing "How to Choose False Eyelashes"...

There's never been a better time than now to try out face- and eye-enhancing false eyelashes. But with so many types and lengths of lashes available, the selection process can be daunting. When it comes to purchasing false lashes, Ana Cruzalegui, CEO of UK-based We Are Faux, says the first thing to think about is the kind of makeup look you desire. "Do you want to look natural or add a bit more drama?" she asks. "Or perhaps you are trying to create a style inspired by a certain era."

For BellaSugar’s three guidelines for choosing false lashes wisely, just keep reading.
  • Think thick: "The thicker the false lash is at the base, the more depth it will add to your eyes," Cruzalegui explains. Thicker false lashes also create a darker lash line, and look beautiful paired with a smoky eye. She recommends the brand's Nighthunter lashes ($20), pictured upper left. (Note the company's policies on shipping to the US.)
  • Amp it up: Longer and more separated lashes are perfect for lending volume and length. Pair this variety with a winged-out liner look for added flair. Cruzalegui's pick: the Unveiled style ($17), pictured upper right.
  • Avant-garde "lite": "If you want to be more daring with your falsies but would still like an everyday look, try cutting a more dramatic pair in half," she says. Then, simply place them on each of the outer ends of your lash lines for a reeled-in, avant-garde look. Suggestions: the daring blue, green, and diamante Rosebud lashes ($31), as seen in the lower left photo, or the metallic-gold accentuated Rubia lashes ($24), pictured lower right.

Would You Go a Month Without Washing Your Hair?

I bet you would never go a week without washing your hair, let alone a month. Why do you think that is?
Because it is gross for one reason and your hair would never do the things you need it to do.
So why don't you wash your makeup brushes?
I cannot express enough how important this is to your face and makeup.
Studies have shown that if you don't wash your makeup brushes you are more likely to break out.
If you have a open sore on your face and you use your makeup brush to put concealer on, it can cause more problems.
It is so easy to wash makeup brushes.
You do not need to buy expensive cleaner.
Here is one of the best way to clean your brushes:
What you need:
Plate
dish soap
olive oil

put the liquid dish soap on the plate
put olive oil on the same plate put opposite end
rub your brushes in the soap and then the olive oil
repeat with all of your brushes.
when you have all of your brushes loaded up with soap and olive oil, rinse until the water runs clear.
The most important thing is NOT to let the water run down the handle of the brush, this will loosen the glue inside the brush and it will fall apart.
Lay the brushes flat hanging over an edge of a counter, so water will drip off the brush not down.
I promise you that if you clean your brushes at least once a week your face and makeup will be beautiful.
Happy Cleaning!

What Kind Do You Wear?

Like I said before, lips are so important.
Don't you covet when you see a women with great lips?
Some women go way over board with fillers for there lips
(Taylor from the Housewives of BH)!
I find it hard to always get the right color, so I seem to be buying lipstick a lot.
What kind of lipstick do you like?
Are you a gloss girl, chapstick girl, or do you need full on color?
If you have to wear color what color do you like most?
I would love to hear from you, then I can post your favorite!

The 5 Widespread Beauty Myths No One Tells You About

There are a lot of common beauty myths people are eager to disprove: drinking water makes your skin more moist, popping pimples makes them go away, etc. But there are some misconceptions that are just as pervasive and don't get nearly as much attention. To see if you've been deceived, just keep reading.
  1. You can shrink your pores
Nope — you can minimize the look of your pores by exfoliating and keeping them free of debris, but they're going to be the size they are. Astringents can help the skin contract, making them look smaller temporarily, but can't shrink them in the long term.
  2. The cysts on your face are always acne
Most people assume their breakout is just that — a breakout. In reality, though, there are many other common skin conditions that look similar. People often try to treat bumps from rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and skin allergies using acne products, which can just end up irritating skin more.
  3. Tanning keeps your skin clear
This is deceptive; it appears to work because tanning and burning desiccates your skin, so pimples seem to dry up. After a couple of days, though, your dry, now irritated skin might start pumping out even more oil than usual, and your flaky, damaged skin could clog your pores. Lots of people then try to tan again to "fix" the issue and just start the cycle all over again.
  4. Lip balm keeps your lips hydrated
There are many lip balms and glosses that contain menthol or camphor, which just dry your lips out more. And even with products that don't, constantly re-applying throughout the day can actually break down your moisture barrier and dehydrate the delicate skin on your lips.
  5. Trimming your hair makes it grow faster
This is the old wives' tale that just won't die. Trimming your hair often prevents split ends and keeps your hair in good shape, sure. But your rate of hair growth isn't determined by how much dead keratin you're lopping off. It's about genetics, environment, diet, and even the time of year.
